Vinlab is an independent and accredited laboratory in Stellenbosch that provides a comprehensive range of analytical and microbiological servicess to the Beverage and Wine, Water, Food and Pharmaceutical industry. Vinlab approached us without too much knowledge of what they needed, but they knew they wanted to grow organically in Google and have their website appearing more visibly. We walked them through all the services available and we settled on a handful that would work within their budget and bring them the desired results.

Success Drivers

Website Audit – As Vinlab had nobody previously assisting them with their website, and the website itself was fairly outdated, we conducted a comprehensive audit on their website. This uncovered a number of issues ranging from outdated plugins, broken links and all sorts of other matters. We worked with their internal developer to solve these problems, and left the website in a much better position.

Keyword Research – Following on from the audit, we needed to determine exactly what keywords their audience was searching for in Google, and come up with a strategy to correctly position these keywords on the website. We performed a full rewrite of their meta data, and we worked with the team to update a lot of content on the website. 

Post-Index Rework – Once the new pages were indexed by Google, we saw immediate results. We used the new data to figure out what was working, and then went through another round of updates to the website to position it ever better. We ended up repeating this process a handful of times as each time we did so, we saw good results.

Tracking – The website had no form of tracking in place, so we set up Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Search Console. We started gathering more data and were able to report insights back to the Vinlab team, which was invaluable.

Outcomes

The Vinlab website didn’t rank in Google much, and anything it did rank for was on Page 3 of the search results or worse. Through our involvement, we grew the rankings exponentially. There is nothing better than sharing a graph like this:

A special requirement from the Vinlab team was to put their cannabis testing on the radar. The website didn’t rank for any cannabis related terms, but now ranks on Page 1 of the search results for a great assortment: accredited cannabis testing, cannabis laboratory, cannabis product testing, medical cannabis testing, cannabis testing, and chemical testing of cannabis.

Over the space of working with Vinlab, we doubled their monthly website visitors and the number of enquiries they were receiving tripled.
