Introduction.
We were approached by Accenture and asked to assist with the relaunch of the SA Rugby website. Our operative was to ensure that when the new website was launched, that everything search engine optimisation (SEO) related was correctly set up.
The SA Rugby website was built on an old platform which didn’t cater for SEO and there was a great deal of content on the website that needed to be carefully migrated and then optimised on a new platform.
Success Drivers
There were a number of actions that we took on the website. Amongst these, the primary tasks involved:
- Page Architecture – The structure, in terms of SEO, was a big mess with the old website, we strategically created a new structure for the development and content teams.
- Keyword Positioning – The website had no silos that were structured correctly, we created silos and assisted the content team in understanding how the silos should be optimally used.
- Design – User experience plays a roll in SEO too, we worked through the proposed designs and provided feedback on change requirements to better enable SEO value..
- Content Creation – From meta data to header tags to content length and keyword positioning, we provided the team with a clear content structure to follow with their production.
- Launch Strategy – Launching a new website on a new domain requires incredibly careful planning. We assisted the team with a step-by-step approach which worked out incredibly well.
- Tracking – We created new Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics accounts to correctly track website visitors.
Outcome
The launch was a success as you can see from the growth of the organic visitors below:
