Case Study: Magic Hills Private Collection

Deep within the enchanting, star-studded wilderness of the Karoo, lies the beautiful Magic Hills Private Collection, a unique family-owned nature reserve. The reserve spans 18 000 hectares and nestled inside are four exquisite lodges, each with unique flair and offerings.

In December 2019 owners Erik and Alexandra reached out to iMod Digital to create a new website to match the luxury and beauty of their lodges and reserve on a tight deadline just short of one month.

We were tasked with creating a single website to accommodate three lodges while capturing the characteristics and beauty of each in a structured, easy-to-navigate, and aesthetically pleasing manner. In order to achieve this goal, we decided to follow the following success drivers.

Optimal website structuring – Not only were we set on building a beautiful, modern and luxurious website to mirror the majesty of the lodges, but we also wanted to build a website which is optimised to accommodate three lodges in an SEO and user-friendly manner. We designed a 29-page sitemap before the build of the site.
Optimised for search engines – Being a full-service digital marketing agency with specialisation and expertise in SEO, we built a website technically optimised for search engines.
Seamless user experience – Each element of the website was designed with the user in mind. Even with such a large sitemap, the user will rarely find themselves more than one click away from anywhere on the website they would like to be. Clear calls to action, carefully structured menus and sub-menus, and stunning content together form an easy and pleasurable experience for each user.
Sleek & lavish design – Since Magic Hills needed a new and improved website, one of our biggest priorities was to design a website which both compliments and presents the aesthetic of Magic Hills Private Collection adequately while surpassing the prior website in every way.

All of our work on the website was influenced by the strong aesthetic Erik and Alexandra had created for each of their lodges, their passion for the environment and wildlife as well as a personal meeting at their exclusive Sky Lodge and Ilanga Manor House to fuel inspiration.

Each lodge is presented in its own “silo” with a sub-menu and multiple pages dedicated to each of the lodges’ attractions, cuisine, aesthetic, and accommodation.
